Nothing happens without IT. It is the heart of many publishing houses. On a daily basis, hardware as well as software run at maximum capacity and must be highly available at all times. This is only possible if all the components are perfectly coordinated. A demanding and time-consuming task, but one which our new Application Services package can help you with. We assume the task of operating and monitoring the application platforms, analyzing the system structure and optimizing the workflow and user support.

Module 1: System Management

With its System Management Services, ppi Media takes over and ensures, beyond a conventional support and maintenance contract, the smooth operation and support of the application platforms. The respective components cover the following areas:

• System Administration: Operation and administration of the application platforms and associated processes and file systems for the ppi systems, including data cleansing and database tuning.

• Backup&Restore: With ppi’s Replication Service, a complementary offer to ppi Backup and ppi ServerSwitch, the entire production system at the publishing house is permanently replicated and simultaneously synchronized with a backup system at a remote location.

• Patch Management: The installation of patches, bugfixes and enhancements are specified and coordinated with the customer and performed by ppi staff. This may also include performing workflow tests on site.
• Consulting&Guidance: The above services can be enhanced by consulting services, for instance for system analysis/optimization of the IT infrastructure or virtualization.
  

Module 2: Application&Workflow Management

In planning and production, ppi Media can assume all tasks from application administration and configuration to direct user support and consulting. ppi Media provides your staff at the publishing house with expert know-how from more than 100 installations worldwide, as well as knowledge about workflow optimization, new features etc. These tasks include the following:

• Application Support&Consulting: ppi staff provide end users and workflow specialists with first-level support and consulting, if required 24/7.

• Application Administration: ppi will take over the administration and/or
  configuration of applications, processes and interfaces.

• Integration&Coordination: If required, ppi Media can take on the role of a main contact and coordinator for all problems that might arise in the context of interfaces and the entire workflow with 3rd-party vendors. In this case ppi Media carries out the problem analysis and will, on behalf of the client, communicate with the 3rd-party vendor to accelerate the problem-solving process. Solutions will be communicated to the client immediately.
